Serving professionals, career changers and career starters in the areas of business, leadership, health care, trades, technology and those looking for a little fun. Students come to CNC Community & Continuing Education for a fresh start, to make themselves better and their future brighter.

With flexible course schedules and offerings we serve the full demographic of our city. For the working professional there’s Certificate programs that are offered on part-time, evenings and/or weekend formats like the popular Bookkeeping Certificate. We also serve a large cohort of International students in our Post-Diploma programs, like Human Resources Management and Information Technology.

At CNC Community & Continuing Ed we’re constantly evolving and innovating our offerings and delivery methods to meet the needs of the learner. For example we’re working with the College on the Digital Delivery Initiative (or DDI), funded by Northern Gateway, this will allow real-time synchronized delivery of instructor-led learning to classrooms across multiple CNC campuses. Like Burns Lake, Fort St. James, Mackenzie, Quesnel and Vanderhoof.

We’re listening to the regions needs and keeping our finger on the pulse of industry trends. There are a number of offerings “under-development”, like Agro-Business and Big Data programs, to name a couple, and some programs that we’re refreshing like Nursing Unit Assistant and Medical Device Reprocessing.

With the devastating wildfires this 2017 season CNC Community & Continuing Education rallied to pull together two offerings of S100 (Fire Suppression and Safety) and S185 (Fire Entrapment Avoidance) training free to the public.

CNC Community & Continuing Education also develops programs for the under-employed and marginalized members of our community with Ministry funding and partnerships with local not-for-profits. Beyond gaining employable skills, in some cases, students are funded into trades programs and are exposed to hiring opportunities through program volunteers.

In the 2015-2016 year, the Community and Continuing Education department ran a number of life changing courses for individuals who haven’t graduated from high school, who work less than 20 hours a week or who are not eligible for Employment Insurance. Some of that successful programming included Construction Industry Training, Working in Natural Gas, Reintegration Industry Readiness Training Program, Aboriginals in Trades Training and Heavy Equipment Operator Training.

This 2017 year has seen a strengthened relationship with Correctional Services Canada with two cohorts in our Reintegration Industry Readiness Training Program. We’re told it’s the only program of its kind in Canada!

CNC Community & Continuing Education is about responding to the needs of the community with timely, valuable training and professional development at an affordable price.
