Stable Temperatures are Needed to Lower the Risk of more Flooding.

The recent warm-up of temperatures are keeping city officials and some homeowner along the Nechako watching the river’s movements closely.  As temperatures hover around the freezing mark the activity of the ice jam and water flow are expected to increase. Our region has experienced swings in temperature over the past few weeks, causing the river to develop ice jams and some localized flood to three city homes. According to Dr. Stephen Dery Atmospheric Scientist, the threat of flooding will pass when our temperatures become stable over a longer period of time.
