PRINCE GEORGE – The Northern Brain Injury Association (NBIA) received a $75,000 grant from the Province today, to help people with brain injuries after they’re released from jail.

The grant comes from the NBIA’s Crime & Addiction Reduction Education Services (CARES) project to assist inmates in understanding what has happened to them. Support will come through overcoming barriers such as peer pressure, alcohol and drug dependency, housing and other socio-economic barriers.

The NBIA CARES project will also provide training for care providers as well.

According to correction reports, inmates living with a brain injury is 87 percent.
