CETA Good News For Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – It is now the largest trade agreement in the world. The Canada-European Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement gives Canada access to 28 countries and 510 million consumers. 

But it is a complex agreement.

That’s why members of the European Union were in the city today, meeting with businesses hoping to gain access to that massive trading partner. 

Howard Jackson has been selling and breeding Appaloosa horses for years.

“Sell breeding stock around the world. As well, we have been identified by folks from Europe primarily and other places in the world, as the place to go and learn about breeding horses and training Western horses,” he says. 

All signs point to Prince George recently in terms of international trade, with the federal government also designating Prince George as one of nine foreign trade zones in the country. 

That’s in part why the President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority to the day-long seminar.

“We want to take a look the airport can support the other trade agreements out there because I think we are on the verge of having a whole new set of tools in the toolbox, in terms of foreign trade zones, with agreements with the E.U.,” says John Gibson. “We’ve got to get a better understanding of how we can leverage them.”
