There’s still nine whole months until the UNBC Timberwolves soccer team returns to action, but Thursday, the women’s team announced a commitment. Coming to the roster for the 2019 season is Chilliwack’s Kalista Kirkness. The 5’8 fullback has visited UNBC twice and was able to watch a Timberwolves game, ultimately contributing to her final decision. The 17-year-old will graduate from Sardis Secondary in June and join the squad for training in August. Kirkness is currently playing with Coastal FC in the BC Soccer Premier League and says she brings a physical prowess to the game, a direct quote “I am gritty. If someone hits me, they can expect a hit back.” The honour roll student has plans to enroll in Bio Medical studies at UNBC.
