Gauthier Shuts Out Rockets In Cougars Win

PRINCE GEORGE – It was a weekend worth celebrating for local hockey. The Prince George Cougars swept their weekend double-header against the Kelowna Rockets, winning 4-0 Saturday night at the CN Centre. 

Taylor Gauthier made 20 saves for his third shutout of the season and his second this week. 

On the score sheet, Vladislav Mikhalchuk scored a pair, Josh Maser scored his team-leading 16th goal and Josh Curtis picked up his first goal since November 23rd. Rookie defenceman Cole Beamin recorded his first WHL career point, assisting on Maser’s goal in the first period. 

After the win, the Cougars jump to fourth in the BC division and eighth in the Western Conference. They improve their record against the Rockets to 6-1-1-0. From the start of 2019, the Cougars are looking good so far as they improve to 4-1-0.
