Canfor temporarily cuts back on production

VANCOUVER – Three BC mills owned by Canfor Corporation will be temporarily curtailing operations.

The company made the announcement Wednesday, saying the cutbacks were due to constraints on log supply, log costs and the current market conditions.

Canfor’s Vavenby sawmill will be curtailed for six weeks from February 11th to March 22nd. Their sawmills in Houston and Mackenzie will be curtailed for one week each in the first quarter.

As a result of these curtailments, production will be reduced by about 40 million board feet. This is additional to the 150 million board of production that was curtailed back in Q4 2018 and early Q1 2019.
