Kings take first game in series versus Coquitlam

The Spruce Kings are up 1-0 in their best of seven series against the Coquitlam Express after a 3-1 victory last night. Ben Poisson got the Kings on the board early with a power-play goal less than four minutes in.

That would be the only goal in the first period. The Express tied the game less than a minute into the second on a power-play goal of their own from Connor Gregga. Layton Ahac then regained the lead for the Kings five minutes later with Poisson picking up the assist.

Dustin Manz would add an empty-net tally in the final minute to seal the win the for the Kings. Logan Neaton made 21 saves on 22 shots for the win. Ahac and Poisson each had a goal and an assist in the win as well.

The two teams will square off again tonight at 7 p.m. at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
