Kings not sweating second-round matchup

After wrapping up their first-round playoff series in 5 games last week, the eyes of the Spruce Kings turned to the other Mainland Division matchup this weekend between the Langley Rivermen and the Chilliwack Chiefs. After losing the first 3 games in the series, the Chiefs managed to come all the way back to win 4 games in a row against the Rivermen, including game 7 on Sunday. The Kings and Chiefs will now meet in the playoffs for the second straight year. Last season it was the Kings prevailing in 7 games but the RBC Cup hosts would still move on to win the National Championship. That doesn’t seem to scare the Kings though.

So it will be a battle of the BCHL heavyweights in round 2 of the playoffs. The Chiefs and Kings finished first and second in the league standings this year, with the Kings managing to win 5 of their 8 meetings against the Chiefs. They’ll kick off the series in Chilliwack this weekend with games 1 and 2 set for Friday and Saturday night. Games 3 and 4 will go Monday and Tuesday from the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena, where the Kings have won 11 straight games. After that the series will go back and forth for games 5, 6, and 7 if necessary.
