Kings whack Chiefs with eight goals

Superlatives and hyperboles are all that come to mind to define the Spruce Kings 8-0 win Monday night against Chilliwack because it truly seemed to be the craziest, most dominant, lopsided performance ever. Maybe not ever, but you get the idea.

The Kings came out rolling in front of a season-high 1697 fans and matched a season-high in goals with eight (November 9th vs. Langley).

Ben Poisson led the way for the team with a natural hat trick, doing as Dustin Manz did in game one of the series and scoring three straight goals to contribute to an ever larger win than their 7-0 performance on Friday in game one.

Layton Ahac and Nolan Welsh both had a goal and two assists, while Patrick Cozzi kicked in three assists, bringing his assist count in the last three days to seven.

Nick Bochen, Lucas Vandroboys, and Jay Keranen accounted for the rest of the Kings goals.

Logan Neaton faced just 13 shots in his second shutout in three games.

The biggest factor in the contest, penalties. The Kings played a man-up ten times through the game, scoring on five of their chances.

The 8-0 victory advances their lead in the series to 3-0. On Tuesday at 7 pm, the teams will play game four of the Mainland Championship series at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena, where the Kings will look to complete the sweep against the League Champion Chiefs, who are being outscored 18-2 in the series.
