The Prince George Cougars may be missing the opportunity to get playoff experience this year, but rookie Matéj Toman is working his way to a big stage this offseason. The Czech Republic forward has been named to the country’s selection camp roster ahead of the 2019 Men’s World Under-18 Hockey Championship.  The 18-year-old is one of 19 forwards that make up the 34-man camp. The Cougars rookie finished with nine goals and 11 assists in 66 games this season. He’s vying for a spot in the 2019 Men’s World Under-18 Hockey Championship, which goes April 18th – 28th Sweden. This wouldn’t be Toman’s first time representing his country, after having played for the Czechs at the 2018 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup last August and won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, BC.
