Strimbold case tentatively put over to May 6

SMITHERS — Update: The case has been put over for a tentative court date of May 6.

Strimbold’s legal counsel was in court today in place of him.

Earlier: A former Burns Lake mayor accused of 29 sex-related charges is set to make a court appearance in Smithers today (April 8). 

Luke Strimbold is accused of sexual interference, sexual assault and invitation to sexual touching. 

Strimbold was first charged last March and a special prosecutor named in August in his case.

Back in 2011, 21-year-old Strimbold was the youngest mayor ever to be elected in BC. 

Today’s appearance will possibly determine whether Strimbold will face a judge or jury in the case or enter a plea.
